For me, having the ability to change an amorphous piece of clay into a functional or decorative object is fascinating. The act of creating something that can be used in everyday life or a piece of work to be touched or to enhance someone’s home is empowering and exciting.

My work is inspired by things I see in the natural world around me, rocks, lichen, fire, the sea, tree bark, my garden. I love the irregularity and imperfection of natural forms. I like to show that my work has been handmade and doesn’t have the perfection found in machine made work. I create stoneware, raku and barrel fired pieces.
